I am an artist with the audacity to let my inner child come out to play. I follow no rules, I make messes and create my inner most thoughts into pictures, poems, stories, and a mix of colors. I write, paint and draw with the intent to inspire others to do the same.

CarrieAnne is a children's librarian by day, and a writer and artist by night. Inspired by a lifetime of exploring the outdoors, and her love of nature, animals and art, CarrieAnne has brought to life her first picture book. When not absorbed into the colorful world of creating, CarrieAnne enjoys camping, walking her dogs, and spending time with her family. She lives in Michigan, with her husband, daughters and too many animals to count.
Why did you choose to self-publish?
That's a good question. I chose to self-publish because it gave me more creative control over my book. It is not the easiest path to take and it took a lot of hard work and constant learning through trial and error, but I love how it all worked out.
Did you go to school to become an illustrator?
I actually went to school for Zoology, Psychology and Early Childhood Education. I have only had a few art classes in recent years.
What inspired you to write books?
My daughters. Both of them love to read and enjoy creating art. I once made a potty book to help my youngest potty train.
How long have you been writing or when did you start?
I have always kept a journal, since I was about 10. I would write in it whenever I was sad, mad or excited about something. I started writing poetry and creative writing about 8 years ago.
What was your favorite childhood book?
As a young child, my favorite book was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss
Did you love reading as a child?
Actually, I didn't. I had a hard time learning to read. I had and still have a problems sounding words out. However, I did eventually fall in love with reading in 7th grade, when I pick up a book out of boredom and started to read. I haven't stopped reading since.
How long did this book take you to create?
This book took about 5 years, from idea to publishing.
What do you like to do when you are not writing or creating art?
I like to watch movies with my family and hand out with my dogs. I also like to sew and spend time outside.
How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?
I have about nine unfinished books.
What part of the book did you have the hardest time writing?
I think the hardest part about creating any book is being satisfied with end result and letting it go, knowing there will always be something you could have done better.
